Note di degustazione
The 2008 Paul Lato Syrah Il Padrino Bien Nacido Vineyard is a powerful, full-bodied Syrah that still hangs onto an overall balanced, deft profile. Cassis and blackberry fruits literally jump from the glass and are backed up by loads of spice, flowers, and cream aromas on the nose. This is followed by a gorgeously fruited wine that possesses a voluptuous, seamless texture, awesome purity, and a long, decadent finish. Hard to resist now, this should continue to dish out the love for a decade or more.

Glass-staining ruby. Exotic, deeply smoky aromas of blackberry, boysenberry, licorice and incense, with a pungent floral quality that gains strength with air. The palate offers full-bodied, powerful dark berry preserve and candied violet flavors, along with silky tannins and good mineral lift. Turns sweeter and silkier with air, finishing with excellent clarity and impressively persistent dark fruit and floral notes.
These two distinctive efforts include the 2008 Syrah Il Padrino Bien Nacido Vineyard, which comes from the Estrella clone. Fully destemmed and aged in 100% new French oak, it is a beautifully made, full-bodied, inky/purple-colored wine exhibiting notes of graphite, creme de cassis, blackberries, minerals, and spice box with just a hint of oak in the background. It offers layer upon layer of fruit as well as a powerful, rich, yet elegant style. Drink this beauty over the next decade or more. While Paul Lato built his reputation on his exquisite Pinot Noirs, and more recently, Chardonnays, he has also demonstrated a superb talent for coaxing tremendous character and complexity out of the Syrah grape. Kudos to Polish immigrant turned California winemaker, Paul Lato. www.paullatowines.com
