The 2014 Pinot Noir Coastlands Vineyard Old Firs Block opens with some rubber, tar and scorched earth aromas, although the palate offers more detailed red berry fruits in a firm, fresh frame with a minerally finish. Give it a long decant.

Ross Cobb's 2014 Pinot Noir Coastlands Vineyard Old Firs Block is wild, powerful and exotic. Extended time in barrel (34 months) has given the 2014 quite a bit of depth and texture. Exotic, wild and yet also wonderfully finessed, the 2014 has a lot to offer. Star anise, cedar, tobacco, menthol, dried flowers and crushed leaves add striking shades of nuance. The long, persistent finish makes it next to impossible to resist a second taste. The 2014 was done with 50% whole clusters.
