From a warm year in which the domaine took extra pains on the sorting table, the 2011 Chateauneuf du Pape is still dense, chocolaty and rich, tinged with notes of plum and blackberry. Full-bodied and open-knit, it remains fresh, with just a touch of dry tannin on the finish. Drink it over the next few years. Tasted at the estate.

Saturated ruby. Raspberry, allspice, potpourri and woodsmoke on the perfumed nose. Fleshy and expansive, offering open-knit red berry preserve and spicecake flavors and a hint of candied rose. Smooth tannins come on late and add shape to the long, sweet, penetrating finish. This is already delicious.
Bright purple. A highly aromatic bouquet evokes fresh red berries, cherry, Asian spices and lavender. Sweet, spicy and sharply delineated, offering cherry and black raspberry preserve flavors complicated by a note of blood orange. Finishes, clean, spicy and long, with very soft tannins. In an exotic and approachable style; this wine will drink well on the young side.
