(14.8% alcohol; blended with 10% merlot): Bright medium ruby. Aromatic nose combines blueberry, black cherry and licorice pastille; higher-pitched than the superripe merlot. Sweet and lush but nicely savory, with slightly high-toned flavors of licorice, chocolate and coffee. Could use a bit more definition. Finishes with substantial chewy tannins. A bit unrefined but very ripe and stuffed with fruit.
