From Oakville, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Fortuna Vineyard (182 cases) is deep ruby/purple in color, shows loamy soil undertones, underbrush, blackcurrant, cedar wood and background oak. It is medium to full-bodied and, like most 2014s, it is savory, velvety textured, lush and ideal for drinking over the next 10-15 years.

Carter's 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Fortuna Vineyard is laced with the essence of raspberry jam, cloves, licorice, spice and menthol. Rich, unctuous and powerful, the 2014 exudes depth and the concentration that is so typical of this wine and site. The tannins are a bit firm today, but another few years in bottle should do the trick. Relative to some of the other wines in the range, the Fortuna is a bit light, especially through the middle.
