The top of the line 2014 Chardonnay Savoir Faire is impressive. Rich and intense on the palate, the 2014 exudes personality, with plenty of phenolic intensity from Pahlmeyer's Atlas Peak mountain intensity coming through. Lemon confit, white flowers, jasmine and chamomile fill out the wine's ample frame effortlessly. Unctuous and generous, the 2014 Savoire Faire is a classic Pahlmeyer Chardonnay built on exuberance.

The 2014 Chardonnay Savoir Faire offers a more buttery, deeper, richer, more full-bodied and creamy style. It has loads of almost lychee nut, white peach, honeysuckle, brioche and a hint of hazelnut. This is a seriously endowed, gorgeous wine that may well be one of the best 2014 Chardonnays I have tasted. It can be drunk over the next 6-8 years.
The 2014 Chardonnay Savoir Faire presents a much more tropical profile and greater textural richness than the straight Chardonnay. Mango, butter, orange peel and spice all meld together in an unctuous, beautifully textured Chardonnay. In 2014, most of the fruit for the Savoir-Faire is mostly young vine fruit from Pahlmeyer's estate vineyard on Atlas Peak. This is the first vintage of the Savoir Faire that will spend 22 months in barrel. In order to do that, winemaker Kale Anderson has shifted to using 500 liter tonneaux, which allow for a more gradual exposure to air as wines age. The Savoir Faire has the potential do be a real overachiever for the year.
