Moving to the Cabernet releases, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon JAX Estate Block 3 comes all from the estate vineyard in Calistoga. It has a deep, slightly brooding bouquet of blueberries, lavender, bloody meat, and roasted herbs, with a kiss of chocolate thrown in for good measure. Rich, full-bodied and powerful on the palate, with ripe tannins, it's brilliant today and will be brilliant in 15 years or more.

The deep garnet-purple colored 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Block 3 (100% Cabernet) opens with crème de cassis, plum preserves and olives with tar and fertile loam notes plus a camphor hint. The palate is full-bodied, firm and chewy with plenty of black fruit and a savory finish.
