Punteggio 89/100 · Jeb Dunnuck, Apr 2024

Ripe black raspberries, mulled cherries, classy oak, and graphite all emerge from the 2021 Château Les Trois Croix, another impeccably made Fronsac that's medium-bodied and has a supple, elegant mouthfeel, soft tannins, and a great finish. It has the mid-weight, fresher style of the vintage, yet this brings terrific fruit and balance.

The 2021 Les Trois Croix retains a rather low-key bouquet, but one that is well-defined with black fruit, licorice and autumn leaves. The palate is medium-bodied with smooth tannins, relatively fleshy and caressing in the mouth. It’s quite savory toward the finish with a lightly spiced aftertaste. Enjoy it over the next eight to ten years.

The austerity is clear, but so is the skill of winemaker Bertrand Leon, and this leans in to the vintage in a confident way, delicate with a focus on savoury brambled fruits, points of slate and mandarin peel, baked spice, gentle lift on finish. 31hl/h yield, 32% new oak, harvest September 29 to October 12.

Roasted beets, plums and herbs on the nose. Savory and juicy with a medium body, fine tannins and fresh acidity. Drink from 2024.
