Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2019-2026, Jeb Dunnuck, Feb 2019

The 2016 Murmure de Larcis Ducasse is the second wine of Château Larcis Ducasse. Currants, saddle leather, dried herbs, and some truffle notes all emerge from this rounded, supple, layered wine that has a lot of class and character. With fine tannins and a forward, delicious style, drink it over the coming 5-7 years.

The 2016 Murmure de Larcis Ducasse feels a little tight-lipped and unresponsive on the nose. Gravel-infused red fruit mixes with touches of black tea and bay leaf, though I would have liked more energy. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannin. The palate is actually prettier and more appealing than the nose, offering bright red fruit mixed with veins of blueberry. Cracked black pepper furnishes the finish. Once the aromatics open up, this should drink nicely for four or five years.

Aromas of dark berries, slate and gunpowder already tell you this is serious. Medium to full body, firm and chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Second wine of Larcis Ducasse. Almost all merlot with a dash of cabernet franc. Drink in 2023.

The 2016 Murmure de Larcis Ducasse is soft, fruity and supple, with a lovely savory and earthy character that adds aromatic nuance to the dark red and black fruit. The blend is 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc.
