Note di degustazione
Based on 93% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2022 Château Lestage Simon delivers darker fruits, currants, black cherry liqueur, graphite, and iron. Medium-bodied, round, and supple, it has a solid core of tannins, mid-palate density, and depth. Vinified in stainless steel and aged for 12 months in 50% new oak barrels, it should benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age and drink well for a decade. Total production: 7,833 cases.

The 2022 Lestage Simon has improved slightly on the nose and gained more complexity. The palate is medium-bodied and cohesive, with a peppery entry and gentle grip toward the finish. It should give six to eight years of drinking pleasure.
Cru bourgeois supérieur. 80% Merlot, 15% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon on clay-limestone, clay-gravelly and clay-sandy soils. Yield 50 hl/ha. Aged in barrels for 12 months (50% new, 50% used). Very dark indeed, and with real interest on the nose – hoorah! Round and juicy and a little Napa-esque with fantastic delivery of pleasure. A real hedonist’s wine. (JR)
Easy to drink, supple and round, clarity to the black fruit and spiced plum, with mid-palate weight and expansion. The Merlot definitely dominates on the personality, but there is enough tannic grip to place you in the Médoc. Estate located in Lamarque, 50hl/h yield, 50% new oak for 12 months, owners Joseph Helfrich.
