Note di degustazione
The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Grands Vignes 1er Cru has a heavy reduction on the nose, which is occluding terroir and denuding it of freshness at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with a fleshy, well-defined entry. Again, this is marked by fine tannins, slightly peppery in style, with a gentle grip. This 2020 has one of the more elegant finishes. Give this two or three years in bottle and/or a decant because there is a very classy NSG here. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Monopole. 0.32 hectare, 1,050 bottles produced. Soil is between 40 and 60 cm thick, compressed clay-loam. Around 20% is rocky with pebbles and fragments of shale, together with Jurassic limestone. Fine, perfumed nose with stone fruit on the palate, hint of roasted pineapple and spice. Chalky edge to the texture. Plenty of heft for this white Nuits premier cru with just enough acidity to keep it onside. Verging on a tad overripe? (AWH)
The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Grands Vignes Rouge 1er Cru has a very intense and floral bouquet with black cherries, pressed violets and light peony aromas billowing from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, fine acidity, slightly granular in texture with a vivid and vivacious finish. Superb.
