2017 Merlot Friuli Isonzo

Blackberries, steeped plums, mentholated herbs and hints of dusty earth waft up from the darkly alluring 2017 Merlot. This is round and soothing with silky textures and ripe red and blue fruits complicated by hints of savory spice and sour citrus toward the close. This finishes with a tart sensation that puckers the cheeks and a coating of fine tannins. This sports an alpine character, and while structured, the 2017 is in a very giving stage.
