The 2013 Cabernet Franc Blueline Estate offers impressive notes of blackcurrants, leafy herbs, graphite and dark chocolate in a medium to full-bodied, tight, compact, nicely concentrated and balanced package. It’s pretty, elegant, and has an understated style, with outstanding length on the finish, all suggesting it’s going to keep for a decade or more.

The outstanding 2013 Cabernet Franc Blue Line comes from 22-year-old Cabernet Franc, with the final blend 86% Cabernet Franc and 14% Malbec. Deep ruby/purple, with notes of forest floor, black raspberry and blueberry, the wine has floral and pen ink nuances to it, medium to full body, and luscious fruit. It can be drunk over the next 10 years.
The 2013 Cabernet Franc Blueline is gorgeous. Varietal aromatic Franc notes open up first, followed by a kick of juicy red fleshed fruit. A dollop of Malbec gives the wine an extra dimension of suppleness that works beautifully here. The tannins have really softened over the last year, and the 2013 is now in great shape to deliver fabulous drinking over the next decade.
Grilled herbs, sage, smoke and dark fruit all meld together in the 2013 Cabernet Franc. This is another super-intense, powerful wine with tons of concentration and big, chewy tannins. Today the Cabernet Franc is a bit less polished than the other wines in the range, but it is clearly very early days for this vintage.
