2016 Chateau Boswell Chardonnay The Voyage

The 2016 Chardonnay The Voyage is mostly from the Rued Vineyard, yet also includes some Old Wente clones from Ritchie Vineyard. It's another rounded, rich, opulent effort from this team. Poached orchard fruits, candle wax, honeysuckle, and white flower notes all flow to a rounded, incredibly sexy Chardonnay that has a huge palate presence, more moderate acidity, and a big finish. Brought up in 70% new French oak, drink this powerful, classic Russian River Valley Chardonnay over the coming 5-7 years. These brilliant wines from Chateau Boswell are made by renowned winemaker/consultant Philippe Melka, with assistants from Allison Nunnikhoven. I found all f the wines to have classic, balanced, age-worthy profiles, and they’re some of the gems in this report.
