Dark red-ruby. Cool, slightly medicinal scents of blackberry, blueberry coulis, black cherry, bitter chocolate and menthol, plus a faint suggestion of cooked fruits. Fine-grained and dense but light on its feet on entry, with firm acidity and a touch of herbs enlivening the wine's dominant dark berry flavors. This firmly structured, slightly medicinal midweight could still use a couple more years to soften and put on more flesh; I found it a bit more gripping and youthful than the bottle of 2009 I tasted a year ago. Turned a tad dry and herbal with air.

Cabernet Sauvignon. Baked fruit, feathered tannin, lots of vanilla on the finish. All the hallmakrs of designer Cabernet. (RH)

The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Corleonis, which is a multi-AVA blend from Pritchard Hill, Coombsville and Oakville, offers abundant notes of cedarwood, black currants, licorice and forest floor as well as background oak. Medium to full-bodied with moderate tannin and excellent balance, it should drink well for 15-20 years. Tel. (707) 927-1985

(bottled just before my visit): Bright, full medium ruby. Blueberry and menthol aromas are lifted by a floral topnote, with some toasty oak yet to be absorbed. Sweet and very concentrated, with a fine-grained texture and plenty of breadth to the dark berry, spice and menthol flavors. Big, structured cabernet with excellent grip. Finishes with building tannins and noteworthy rising length. Still a bit clenched following the bottling; this may well merit an even higher score with four to six years of cellaring.
