The ruby-colored 1997 Pinot Noir Carter Vineyard displays baby powder, strawberries, and cherry fruit aromas. Medium-bodied, this wine's character is filled with red/black cherries, tangy blood oranges, hints of tar, as well as spicy oak. Medium red, with a hint of amber at the rim. Cherry, raspberry, smoke and underbrush on the nose. Shows more texture and sweetness than the above, but comes across as less fruity and a bit featureless today. Finishes with slightly dry tannins and notes of black cherry and smoky oak. I'd try this again in a year or so.
