Note di degustazione
Deep red. Strikingly complex, wild bouquet of dark berries, minerals, flowers, earth and herbs, plus an exotic smokiness; this smells like an Islay scotch. Sappy, deeply concentrated cherry and blackcurrant flavors are firmed by juicy acidity. Finishes with sweet notes of creme de cassis and silky tannins.

The elegant, unbottled 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape is still aging in foudre. Aromas of roasted herbs, new saddle leather, meat juice, and black cherries are followed by a medium-bodied, stylish red to consume during its first 11-14 years of life. Louis Barruol is more well-known for his estate-bottled cuvees of Gigondas, which, along with those of Yves Gras of Santa Duc, represent the reference points for wines from this bucolic appellation. Additionally, Barruol produces serious wines from other appellations as well, both from his estate holdings and as a negociant. Barruol’s touch with white wines is impressive.
