Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2016-2030, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Aug 2016

The 2011 Chablis Grand Cru les Clos has a very expressive, flinty bouquet that is beautifully defined. Even having been opened after two days, this is very fresh and as Benoît Droin commented, it needed this period of time to address its reduction. The palate is very clean and vibrant on the entry with citrus lemon, dried peach and plenty of sea salt; it gains depth towards the finish with a dash of spice that sets the mouth tingling with pleasure. This is perhaps the strongest offering from Benoît Droin this vintage.

Bright straw-yellow color. Explosive aromas of pineapple, peach pit, ginger and smoky silex; much more open today than the 2012 version. Round, ripe and deep, with very good purity and a fine-grained texture to its yellow fruit and stone flavors. Finishes with a dusty impression of tannins and a touch of youthful bitterness. This is very good for the vintage but I can't see it developing the definition or perfume for a higher score.

Very introvert. Not much aromatic expression but there is a lot hunkered down for future development. For the money, I'd go for one of the premiers crus. Lots of substance. (JR)

(50% oak): Yellow-green. Pungent, complex aromas of grapefruit zest, ginger, silex and quinine; resembles the Montee de Tonnerre in its smoky minerality. Large-scaled, ripe and aromatic, with highly nuanced, saline flavors of peppery minerality, herbs and clove. This very young wine finishes with a slightly bitter edge but boasts firm structure and lovely lingering perfume. Very promising.
