The estate's 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Cardinal is a rich, powerful and intense wine layered with black fruit, spices, licorice and mint. It too, saw 24 months in 100% new French oak. Frankly, this is a mystifying wine. At this stage, there is very little varietal character in the glass.

The estate’s 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Cardinal is a rich, powerful and intense wine layered with black fruit, spices, licorice and mint. It, too, saw 24 months in 100% new French oak. Frankly, this is a mystifying wine. At this stage, there is very little varietal character in the glass. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016. These are the first wines I have tasted from The Farm. Well-known Argentine winemaker Santiago Achaval is at the helm. Although these two offerings boast considerable richness and power, they are also dominated by new French oak.
