Note di degustazione
A 100% varietal wine, the 2022 Zinfandel Boatman is surprisingly crisp and bright on the palate, with a sumptuous mouthfeel of spicy red fruit. The tannins are soft and velvety, with nuanced oak providing additional weight to this medium-bodied wine. There's richness but savory undertones too. I love the black olive and anise that nip at its edges. Enjoy through 2030.

Full bottle 1,213 g. 90% Zinfandel, 10% Petite Sirah. From the wonderfully detailed label, 'Bottled Feb 2023. The steep hillside vineyard at the Boatman Ranch is just south of our Geyserville estate. A dry winter left the vines searching for water, which created just enough stress to produce beautifully concentrated grapes. Of seven parcels harvested, five were chosen for their abundant fruit and sumptuous mouthfeel ... ingredients: hand-harvested grapes; indigenous yeasts; naturally occurring malolactic bacteria; 1% water addition; tartaric acid; oak from barrel aging; minimum effective SO2.' Medium verging on deep purple in colour. Creamy-black-tea and raspberry nose. Firm, fine-grained, persistent tannin on the palate with warmth to the alcohol. (SCJ)
