Brought up in slightly more new oak, the 2016 Pinot Noir Reserve is a cellar selection that spent 16 months in 80% new French oak. As with the Russian River Valley release, it was fully destemmed. This offers slightly more dark fruits as well as some earth and spice to go with a rich, concentrated, yet brilliantly pure profile on the palate. It’s not as expressive as the base cuvée and needs 2-3 years of bottle age. It will keep for over a decade. These wines come all from estate fruit and are made by Dan Fishman. The wines show singular characters, yet share impeccably made, balanced profiles.

The 2016 Pinot Noir Reserve Russian River Valley comes from the best barrels of the Winside vineyard, planted in 1997. Aged in 90% new French oak, it has a medium to deep ruby-purple color and features fragrant scents of roses, incense and Provence herbs over a core of kirsch, warm black cherries and mulberries with hints of dusty soil and fungi. Medium to full-bodied, it has a soft, velvety frame and seamless freshness supporting the generous fruit, finishing with a lingering spicy kick. 292 cases produced.
