Punteggio 93/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2009

Good deep red-ruby. Complex nose melds black cherry, dark chocolate, tobacco and fresh herbs. Plush and sweet, with a burst of sappy maraschino cherry and briary black raspberry flavor. Boasts real mountain-fruit intensity, with ripe acidity and suave tannins giving it considerable early sex appeal. Still, this will probably be at its best in three to five years. Made from special blocks situated on Mt. Veeder a mile into Sonoma Valley and aged entirely in Darnajou barrels. Winemaker Mark Herold noted that in this cool vintage with a potentially copious yield it was necessary to drop a lot of crop to get the rest ripe.

Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2008-2028, Robert Parker, Dec 2008

The dense ruby/purple-tinged 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Kashmir (packaged in a heavy, backbreaking bottle) displays intense blueberry, black raspberry, and floral characteristics in its strikingly complex aromatics as well as an attractive, full-bodied mouthfeel with some noticeable oak char, superb concentration, sweet, noble tannins, and an extremely long finish. This is a big, but gorgeously well-balanced Cabernet Sauvignon to drink over the next 15-20 years. From a well-run, small operation in Sonoma, these impeccably well-made reds are fashioned by the well-known wine consultant, Mark Herold. Tel. (707) 933-1700; Fax (707) 933-1771
