Inky ruby. Ripe blueberry and mulberry aromas are pure and expressive. Suave and velvety, with ripe dark berry flavors, a light pepper note, soft tannins and gentle mineral lift on the finish. You could drink this now.

The black/purple-colored 2005 Syrah Papa’s Block offers loads of tannin as well as sweet blackberry fruit intermixed with flower, road tar, and incense aromas, good richness, acidity, and intensity, and a lingering finish. Readers should not hesitate to get on Carlisle’s mailing list before the world discovers what compelling beverages are being produced here. Not yet released.
