Beautiful and complex on the nose with chanterelle mushrooms and plums and cedar undertones. Medium to full body, very fine tannins and a long and juicy finish. All in richness and finesse. Well crafted. Drink now.

Banfi's 2004 Brunello di Montalcino is a pretty, delicate offering laced with raspberries, flowers and sweet baking spices. Fine, silky tannins add to an overall impression of elegance as this mid-weight Brunello opens up in the glass. The wine is already quite open and accessible, and should continue to drink well for the better part of the next decade. This is one of the more refined wines I have tasted from Banfi in recent years.

Medium red. Subdued aromas of red fruits, sassafras and cola. Suave and supple but quite dry, with a firm core of acidity but flavors dominated by expensive oak today. Finishes with some drying tannins. Will some time in bottle bring more cut and lift?
