Much darker than any wine so far. Rather sweeter than most – less burgundian than some. Round and sweet. A little dry on the finish. (JR)

A very much better wine than the regular 1999 with fully ripe fruit. Round and charming. Correct and much drier than most Oregon Pinots with only a very slight hint of bitterness on the finish even though this was supposed to have been Oregon's worst (greyest) vintage ever. (JR)
Bright ruby-red. Spicy aromas of cassis, bitter cherry, dark chocolate and tobacco. Fairly large-scaled but tight, with low-toned dark cherry and tobacco flavors framed by firm acidity. Slightly roasted aspect. Finishes firmly tannic and persistent. I prefer the oak component in this '98 to the winery two '99 releases.
