Note di degustazione
The Charmes-Chambertin is cut from the same cloth as the Clos de la Roche - sweet, ripe, fruity, and easy to understand. However, for an expensive grand cru, more depth and complexity should be expected. Raphet, who utilizes whole berry fermentation (which was almost universally successful in 1993), has made some very successful wines for the vintage. His 1993s, which were bottled without filtration or SO2, are among the more seductive, round, plump, succulent Pinots of the vintage. They can be drunk young or cellared for 5-8 years. In that sense, they are atypical 1993s. These delicious 1993 red Burgundies are somewhat of an aberration (stylistically speaking) for the vintage.
