This impressively saturated dark ruby/purple-colored wine offers up copious quantities of sweet black currant fruit, vanilla, and minerals. Suave, with sweet fruit on the attack, medium body, ripe tannin, and a lush finish, it will drink well for a decade or more.

Good fresh fruit character. Medium- to light-bodied, with fine tannins and a fruity finish. Best from 2000 through 2004. -James Suckling, Wine Spectator 2000

Medium red. Floral redcurrant, smoke and tobacco nose. Bright but a bit bony in the mouth, with a hint of violet; a wine of modest sweetness and ripeness but good purity of flavor. Suggestion of tart acidity. "A wine for tasting and drinking with food, not for competitions," notes co-director Eric Kohler, "and not necessarily fashionable today. Sometimes the somewhat green, vegetal cabernet sauvignon character is too strong for some tasters."
