Note di degustazione
The 2008 Volnay Caillerets is a dark sensual wine. Today the Caillerets is a bit disjointed and not quite put together, but all the elements appear to be in place for the wine to develop nicely over the coming years. There is plenty of richness to the fruit; all this needs is time. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2028. Importer: Diageo Chateau & Estate Wines, Napa CA; tel. (707) 299-2600

Medium red. Slightly high-toned aromas of licorice and minerals; a bit less pristine than the 2009. Juicy and penetrating, with enticing crushed cherry and berry flavors framed by piquant acidity. Pungent, concentrated wine with a persistent, energetic, brisk finish. Gives a drier impression than the 2009 version but does not come across as green.
Palish red. Cherry dominates the nose. Red fruit and spice flavors come across as a bit lean and dry, without the depth of the best 2008s here. Finishes with a faint dry edge. These 10-year-old vines were hit by hail.
