(L61080016) Yellow-gold. Expansive, fragrant bouquet of honey, tropical fruits, spicecake and dried flowers. Lush, creamy and gently smoky, with flavors similar to the aromas and late notes of minerals and citrus zest adding clarity and cut. Fully mature Champagne with very good finishing thrust and lingering smokiness.

The 1998 Brut is richly textured and full-bodied in style, with pretty suggestions of roasted nuts, apricots honey and flowers. Although the wine offers good length and suppleness, its intensity drops off a bit on the mid-palate. Henriot's Brut is roughly equal parts Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. This is Lot: L5188C, disgorged February 23rd, 2005.

Based on the wines I tasted it looks like quality is on the rise. Importer: Henriot Inc., New York, NY; tel. (212) 605-6706

Deep yellow. Powerful, smoky nose shows an exotic quality to the ripe apple, pear and guava aromas. Round, velvety and lush, with deep, spice-tinged orchard fruit flavors and a hint of yellow plum complemented by a musky, smoky quality. Finishes lush, spicy and long, with an echo of toasted bread.
