2007 Domaine Ghislaine Barthod Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru

Medium red. Slightly medicinal cherry and raspberry aromas complicated by a mineral nuance. Purer and more energetic in the mouth than the Beaux-Bruns, with more lift and definition. Longer than the Beaux-Bruns too, finishing with firm tannins that avoid dryness. At this point in our tasting, Ghislaine Barthod told me that she thought the noses of the 2007s lack precision now and that the wines are in an awkward stage.

Good bright medium red. A fruit bomb on the nose, offering cherry candy, raspberry and lovely floral lift. Tightly wound and not exuberant today but pure and sweet, with noteworthy clarity of fruit. Quite reserved for this cru at this stage; more vertical than horizontal today. Finishes with firm but ripe tannins.
