Punteggio 96/100 · Robert Parker, Dec 1992

Last Tasted 7/92 Rousseau made exhilarating 1969s that are among the best produced in that vintage. The Chambertin Clos de Beze possesses a bouquet that is not far removed from what I normally associate with the wines from the DRC. The oriental spice, hickory, soy, smoked game, and sweet jammy fruit bouquet is remarkable. This full-bodied, lavishly rich, voluptuously styled wine reveals no signs of fading, even though I thought it was fully mature nearly 15 years ago. The sweetness in the finish, as well as the mouthfilling richness and viscous texture are something the likes of which one rarely encounters in modern day red burgundies. If you are lucky enough to own any, there is no need to defer your gratification as this wine has been at its peak for years.
