Punteggio 95/100 · Da bere 2028-2043, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Aug 2025

From Martinelli’s newest vineyard, planted in 2017, the 2023 Pinot Noir Sky Ridge Vineyard has lush, ripe aromas of wild berry pie, vanilla, mushroom and forest floor. The full-bodied palate pairs rich, spicy fruit with well-integrated new oak. It’s framed by ripe, grainy tannins and vibrant acidity and has a long, layered finish. 222 cases were made.

Punteggio 95/100 · Da bere 2025-2040, Jeb Dunnuck, Jul 2025

Pouring a deeper, more magenta/ruby hue, the 2023 Pinot Noir Sky Ridge has a deeper aromatic bouquet with more sapidity in its notes of forest herbs, mossy earth, black raspberries, and pressed flowers. The palate has broader shoulders, but it wears the fruit well and has more structure, with a broader-shouldered feel. While it’s ripe, it’s more balanced, dry, and noble on the finish, with a good deal of length. Drink 2025-2040. One of the most historic names in Sonoma, the Martinellis are sixth-generation winegrowers based in the heart of the Russian River Valley. Prolific farmers, all of their wines come from estate-grown fruit, with 90% of the grapes sold off to other wineries. In addition to focusing on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, they also produce Zinfandel, Syrah, and Muscat of Alexandria. Courtney Robinett Wagoner joined the team in 2015 as the assistant winemaker before being promoted to winemaker in 2017.

Martinelli

Martinelli is a Sonoma benchmark for vineyard-designate bottlings—wines built to highlight how strongly a single site can shape Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Zinfandel. Across the range, the focus stays consistent: small-production bottlings that feel distinctly tied to where they’re grown.
