2000 Volker Eisele Family Estate Terzetto

(one-third each cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and merlot) Red-ruby color. Exotic aromas of maple syrup, rose petal and pepper. Dense and rich in the mouth; slightly herbal but pliant and tactile, with good underlying sweetness. Finishes ripely tannic and persistent, with a slight dry edge. (A second bottle of this wine also showed a slightly porty quality on the nose but was distinctly greener on the finish; this bottle would have rated a score two or three points lower. ) Also tasted: 2002 Gemini White Wine Napa Valley, 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley.
