Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2019-2032, Anthony Mueller, Wine Advocate, Dec 2019

A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Syrah and 15% Petit Verdot, the 2015 Chester Kidder has a rich, classic core full of black fruit, with a soft dustiness and a clear line of minerality through the center. The palate remains mineral-driven with subtle notes of savory spice giving way to structuring tannins. The sweet oak tones align with dusty blackberries and soft purple florals on the palate, ending with a long and complex finish with hints of graphite as the tannins grip the gumline and will last for quite some time. It's a beautiful wine. 1,995 cases produced.

More cassis, cedary spice, and dried flower notes emerge from the 2015 Red Wine Chester Kidder. It's medium to full-bodied, beautifully complex, and layered, with more upfront charm and approachability than most 2015s. Nevertheless, it's going to evolve gracefully on its balance and harmony. Made from 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Syrah, and 15% Petit Verdot that spent a full 30 months in oak, hats off to winemaker Gilles Nicault for another terrific vintage for this wine. The talented Gilles Nicault continues to manage this estate and all its different cuvées brilliantly. The key factor to understand with these wines is that each is made with consulting advice from a different winemaker. Hence, the style of each is unique, yet the quality is top notch.

Bright ruby-red. Claret-like aromas of dark raspberry, redcurrant and licorice. Penetrating and tightly wound, showing lovely violet lift to the flavors of red and black fruits and licorice. But this Cabernet Sauvignon-based wine is very backward today, still in need of time for its acidity to harmonize. Finishes with firm, building, oak-influenced tannins. Excellent potential here, but lay this one down. (ST) 92+
