Punteggio 96/100 · Da bere 2020-2045, Robert Parker, Oct 2015

The 2013 Proprietary Red Estate is a blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot and 8% Petit Verdot. This wine was aged in 85% new Taransaud oak for 19 months prior to bottling of 650 cases. The wine is a beauty, with loads of charcoal, scorched earth, blackcurrants and blackberry fruit present, along with underlying smoky notes. It is dense purple, full-bodied, and rich, with moderate tannin. This wine will benefit from another 4-5 years of cellaring and drink well for another 20-25 years.

Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2018-2028, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Oct 2015

The 2013 Proprietary Red is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. Graphite, smoke, crushed rocks and savory herbs are some of the signatures. Deeply layered and powerful, with plenty of the estate's trademark richness, the 2013 deftly balances fruit intensity with nuance. The powerful, structured finish is classic 2013.

The 2013 Proprietary Red is one of the best wines I have tasted from Shirley Roy and Philippe Melka. Racy and opulent to the core, yet backed up by superb energy, the 2013 boasts gorgeous intensity and freshness. Blueberry jam, cloves, new leather and mint are some of the notes that punctuate the expressive finish. What a beautiful wine this is.
