Bright purple. Pungent dark berries, Moroccan spices, mocha, cola, olive paste and potpourri on the powerfully scented nose. Smooth, juicy and expansive on the palate, showing lush blueberry, cherry, fruitcake and floral pastille qualities and a touch of star anise. Unapologetically rich but at the same time energetic in style, finishing with impressive tenacity and repeating dark berry, vanilla and floral notes on a very long, youthfully tannic finish.

All Syrah from one of the great sites in the Santa Maria Valley, aged 30 months in new French oak, the 2016 Syrah Bien Nacido offers an awesome bouquet of red and black fruits, lavender, olive tapenade, peppered raw meat, and the classic minerality and salinity that this site always seems to produce. Deep, full-bodied, beautifully balanced, and concentrated, it stays light on its feet and has fine tannins that are followed by a great finish. It's another stunning wine from this team.
