The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve has all of the elements of the 2012, just more concentration, slightly more delineation and structure, and higher but just as sweet tannin. It is a wine of terrific intensity, richness and impressive potential. Forget it for 3-4 years and drink it over the following two-plus decades.
The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is a wine for the exceedingly patient. It might still be young at age ten, as the tannins are intense, massive and forbidding today. Much less expressive from bottle than it was from barrel, the 2013 is a virile, tannic beast. Gravel, smoke, black fruit and a host of ferrous notes meld into the imposing finish. (AG)
The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is shaping up to be magnificent. Bold yet finely sketched, the 2013 is utterly beguiling from the very first taste. Graphite, blue/purplish fruit and leather open up in the glass, but the 2013 is really first and foremost a wine of structure. Quite reticent today, the 2013 is clearly built for the long haul, quite likely the very long haul.
