A tiny barrel selection of the best Cabernet in the vintage, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Mythicus sports a dense plum hue as well as incredible aromatics of blackcurrants, black olive tapenade, iron, smoked tobacco, and camphor. It's a big, rich, mouth-filling wine offering moderate acidity, ripe, layered tannins, stunning mid-palate depth, and a great finish. It needs 3-4 years of bottle age (or lots of air if drinking any time soon), but it s a magical Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon in the making.

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Mythicus Paradise Hills Vineyard shows more textural opulence than the Proprietary Red (also Cabernet Sauvignon) and also a touch more oak imprint, but the two wines are differentiated more by style than quality. Silky, beautifully ripe tannins frame hints of blue fruit, orange peel, mocha, mint, spice, incense and tobacco. I wouldn't dream of touching a bottle anytime soon. In a word: Unforgettable.
A barrel selection of the winery's best Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2021 Mythicus Paradise Hills Vineyard wowed me as a barrel sample, and continues to impress as a finished wine. Oodles of cassis and black cherries emerge on the nose, framed by toasted, mocha-scented Taransaud oak, all with an earthy, savory undercurrent. Full-bodied, rich and intense, it retains a sense of elegance even at this young, tannic stage, but it should only reveal further refinement with time in the bottle. Super stuff.
