The 2016 Pinot Noir Vista Verde comes from an estate vineyard near Calera, with vines planted at high elevations on limestone soils. Pale to medium ruby-purple, it gives dried cranberries, blueberries and boysenberries on the nose, with hints of cinnamon stick, saline, dried leaves, warm earth, tree bark, black tea leaves and dried flowers. Light to medium-bodied, it has a great core of ripe fruits with swirls of earthiness, very fine-grained tannins and juicy acidity, finishing long and berry-laced. (EB)

Plum and blueberry aromas with hints of mint follow through to a medium-to-full body, with firm tannins and a fresh finish. Briney undertone. A little linear. But it shows finesse and style. Reserved and refined. One of the Pinot masters of California, and glad they are all there.
Bright ruby. Expressive scents of blackberry, cherry and candied rose are underscored by a lively mineral tone. Lush, creamy and gently sweet, with strong red and dark berry flavors accented by exotic spices and mocha. Soft tannins are absorbed by the fruit on the persistent, sappy finish.

Williams Selyem is an iconic Russian River Valley winery best known for its Pinot Noir. Producing restrained yet classically Californian expressions of the heartbreak grape (as well as a host of other wines), the property has gone from pioneer to one of the region’s standard-bearers.
