The 2001 Zinfandel Estate (15.6% alcohol) offers a dense plum/ruby/purple color in addition to full-bodied, chewy, viscous flavors, great palate presence, and a tremendous concentration of briery, black cherry, raspberry, and currant fruit intermixed with earth, pepper, and licorice. (from vines planted in 1997) Medium ruby. Expressive aromas of strawberry, raspberry, dark chocolate and sarsaparilla. Plush, sweet and open; much more supple than the Grist. Flavors of roasted red fruits. Finishes with ripe, building tannins. Offers good varietal character considering the young age of the vines.
