A library selection, the 2008 Pinot Noir Mineral Springs Vineyard has matured gracefully. “They were not forthcoming,” founder Tony Soter explains of the 2008s. “But they have evolved very classically.” It has a medium garnet color and compelling aromas of incense, mushroom powder, graphite and pipe tobacco. The full-bodied palate offers nuanced flavors framed by soft, chalky tannins and bright acidity, and it has a very long, complex finish.

White label. Certified Salmon Safe and LIVE-certified sustainable. Certified organic by CCOF . Pale garnet in colour. Higher toned than the 2008 green label. Dried red-cherry fruit with leather and cedar spice. On the palate, the spice develops into a sweet, resiny frankincense that lingers on the palate. Tannins are fine but persistent, and the fresh, lively acidity carries the finish longer than the green label and with more earthiness. This continues to open. Can age but is showing perfectly right now. (SCJ)
Deep red. Mineral-accented cherry, blackberry and woodsmoke scents, along with an exotic hint of potpourri. Sappy dark fruit, spicecake and rose pastille scents smooth out steadily with air while picking up a suggestion of succulent herbs. Shows very good heft and no rough edges, and finishes with repeating smokiness and gentle, even tannins that come on late.
Bright ruby-red. Sexy aromas of raspberry, cherry-cola, sassafras and potpourri. Silky in texture and impressively pure, offering sappy red and dark berry flavors and suave floral pastille and spicecake qualities. Gains weight with air and picks up a bitter cherry quality that carries through the long, spicy finish. Balanced to age but also very attractive right now.
