Punteggio 97/100 · Da bere 2026-2036, Eric Guido, Vinous, Jun 2024

The 2021 Red Cherry is front-loaded, with a burst of crushed wild berries and cedary spice giving way to a cascade of violet florals and shavings of blood orange. This is pure elegance on the palate, with silken textures and masses of ripe red and blue fruits, all kept in check by a balance of crispy tannins and vibrant acidity. The finish, if we can call it a finish, is impossibly long with licorice and resonating spice. Gorgeous today, yet it will evolve beautifully over time. The Red Cherry is a knockout.

Punteggio 95/100 · Da bere 2025-2040, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Jan 2024

The 2021 Cherry Red is a blend of 57% Zinfandel, 15% Syrah, 11% Carignan, 10% Tempranillo and 7% Mourvèdre. It has intense aromas of red and black currants and cherries with accents of tea leaves, botanicals, vanilla and dark spices. The full-bodied palate is bursting with concentrated flavors. It has a finely chalky frame, fireworks of fresh acidity and a long, flavorful finish.

Punteggio 97/100 · Da bere 2023-2033, Jeb Dunnuck, Aug 2023

Leading off the Zinfandel-dominated reds, the 2021 Cherry Red has a killer nose of red and black plums, peppery herbs, incense, and sandalwood. It's powerful and intense on the nose, yet hits the palate with a supple, layered, elegant mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, and no hard edges. If this doesn't put a smile on your face, I don't know what will. A blend of 57% Zinfandel (from head-trained vines planted in 1977), 15% Syrah, 11% Carignan, and the rest Tempranillo and Mourvèdre, drink bottles over the coming decade. Winemaker Matt Trevisan continues to be the master of the blend and produces exotic, singular, incredibly compelling wines based largely on Rhône varieties as well as ample Zinfandel-dominated wines.
