Brought up in 48% new French oak, sourced from a higher elevation vineyard on the southern end of the Anderson Valley, the 2015 Pinot Noir Muldune Train offers a Burgundian bouquet of ripe black cherries, currants, scorched earth, forest floor, and Asian spices. It’s complex, beautifully concentrated and opulent, with a powerful, full-bodied profile. Possessing moderate acidity, drink this pleasure-bent beauty over the coming 7-8 years. Don Hartford and winemaker Jeff Stewart have produced a sensational lineup of wines in 2015 (and I suspect 2016 as well). This is a smaller yielding year, and while quantities are tiny, the wines are concentrated, rich, and flamboyant while also staying elegant and seamless. These are world-class Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays that readers need to seek out!

The 2015 Pinot Noir Muldune Trail is pliant, supple and inviting, with striking purity of fruit and terrific overall balance. The sweet red berry fruit and blood orange flavors are beautifully textured in this racy, inviting Pinot. The Muldune Trail is full of Anderson Valley character.

Medium to deep ruby-purple colored, the 2015 Hartford Court Pinot Noir Muldune Trail features expressive mulberries, stewed red plums and dusty earth notes with touches of garrigue, fresh hay, oolong tea and cloves. Medium-bodied with an appealing chewy grip to the texture, the palate gives compelling savory layers with a long, lively finish. 265 cases were produced.

The 2015 Pinot Noir Muldune Trail is another of the highlights in this range. Bright red stone fruits are pushed forward in a Pinot that offers terrific fruit density in a mid-weight style. Savory and persistent, the Muldune Trail is a classic Anderson Valley Pinot. The Muldune Trail emerges from a site near Booneville, on the southern end of Anderson Valley.
