The 2014 Proprietary Red Hillside Blend Howell Mountain (70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot) is a beauty. With notes of mulberry jam, blackcurrants, subtle barbecue smoke and graphite all present in this wine, it has terrific minerality, gorgeous density, and an intense, full-bodied mouthfeel, superb purity and length. It should drink well for 15-20 years.

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is so young and primary, it tastes like it was taken straight from tank! There is plenty of Howell Mountain character in the intense inky fruit and pulsating, graphite-infused mineral notes, as well as compelling overall balance, but the 2014 is going to need quite a bit of time to come together.
