Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2020-2029, Jeb Dunnuck, Apr 2020

Coming all from Dick Boushey's great vineyard in the Yakima Valley, the 2017 Syrah Jolie Bouche sports a deep, inky purple hue as well as lots of gamey, lavender, ground pepper, and smoked black fruit aromas and flavors. Nicely textured, medium-bodied, balanced, and with nicely integrated acidity, it shows the wild side to Yakima Valley Syrah and is going to drink nicely for 7-8 years, if not longer. There are a tiny 333 cases made.

Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2020-2026, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Dec 2019

Deep medium ruby. Alluring scents of blackberry and spices, with added peppery lift from the stems. Sweet, savory and sedate, with its easygoing texture giving it considerable immediate appeal. The huckleberry fruit is accented on the back end by notes of pepper and licorice. Finishes with smooth tannins and excellent sappy length. Plush, pliant Syrah with a lot of personality, made from ancient soils above the Missoula Flood plain. (vinified with about 15% whole clusters; aged in 17% new French oak; 3.89 pH; now mostly from the winery's Oldfield estate vineyard Syrah, planted close to Boushey vineyard at an altitude of about 1,400 feet)
