Punteggio 95/100 · Da bere 2019-2045, Robert Parker, Mar 2016

I will keep my notes short, but all of the following single-vineyard wines are available only to members of the Beringer Wine Club. Production of these wines is generally only several hundred cases, but all have played a small or larger role in the blending together of the Private Reserve. They are all great wines, so if you are a member and have a chance to buy them, I wouldn’t hesitate. Speaking of blueberry and flowers, the 2013 Marston Vineyard from Spring Mountain knocks it out of the park with those elements. They all can be approached early on (3-4 years), but will age for 25+ years. All things considered, these are all noteworthy wines to buy, but the real deal is the composite blend put together by Laurie Hook. The 2013 Private Reserve is their superstar.

Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2017-2022, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Oct 2015

The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Marston Vineyard is opulent and ripe on the palate, but with silkier tannins than is the norm at Beringer in this vintage. The 2013 is ample and broad on the palate, but it is also quite succulent. Plum, espresso, mocha and spice meld into the resonant finish. I expect the Marston will open up earlier than most of the wines in this range.
