Leading off the three 2014s and almost as good as the 2015, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Winston Hill Red Wine (89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, 4% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot) boasts a deep purple color and full-bodied, opulent aromas and flavors of blackberry jam, crème de cassis, licorice and toasted spices. It’s a big, ripe, sexy wine and I almost wrote “fruit bomb”, yet it has a terrific mid-palate, notable tannin, and is going to age gracefully.

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Winston Hill is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest equal parts Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petite Verdot. This vineyard can actually be seen adjacent to the Silverado Trail. A glorious example of Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine has a dense purple color, seamless integration of acidity, alcohol and tannin, remarkable levels of blackcurrant and black cherry fruit, judiciously integrated oak, and a voluptuous texture and long finish of close to 50 seconds. This stunner is totally in harmony and can be drunk now or cellared for another 20-25 years.
Powerful, ample and rich on the palate, Rich Frank's 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Winston Hill is super-impressive. Dark raspberry jam, wild flowers, mocha and sweet spices all take shape in an exceptionally beautiful, sumptuous Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2014 is super-ripe, dense and flamboyant. It is also one of the best wines I have ever tasted from the estate.
