2009 Winter Cabernet Sauvignon

(made partly from estate fruit at the base of Spring Mountain, the rest from volcanic scree near Kenefick Ranch): Medium red-ruby. Black cherry, redcurrant, bitter chocolate, menthol and a light roasted quality on the rocky nose. Then lush, sweet and liqueur-like, but with an edge of acidity framing the dark fruit and bitter chocolate flavors. Finishes with slightly dry, granular tannins.
