Punteggio 94-96/100 · Da bere 2032-2055, Neal Martin, Vinous, May 2026

The 2025 Clos Fourtet was picked between September 9 and 22, the second earliest after 2003, with a yield of 28 hl/ha. It underwent a lighter extraction at a slightly lower temperature, 24°C, during natural fermentation. It has a bright nose, a mélange of red and black fruit, orange rind and touches of crushed stone emanating from the limestone. The palate is medium-bodied, with succulent ripe tannins, leaning more towards red fruit on the mid-palate. Subtle touches of graphite and white pepper emerge towards the citrus-fresh finish, with commendable length, gentle grip and satisfying sustain. This is a great Clos Fourtet that should age well in bottle.

84% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon . Cask sample. Deep crimson. Aromas of blackcurrant and blackcurrant bud. Delightfully fragrant and seemingly open with a light peony fragrance. Fine-grained, lightly chewy tannins. Moreish, harmonious, juicy. Doesn’t seem very powerful or concentrated but that may simply be because the tannins are so fine even if there is no lack of them. Juicy sweetness to finish. (JH)

Deep ruby-hued and showing a dense, inward, powerful profile that may be due to a higher percentage of Cabernet Franc than normal, the 2025 Clos Fourtet offers ripe currants, black cherries, graphite, scorched earth, and chocolatey nuances that define the bouquet, and it's full-bodied on the palate, with deep, layered mid-palate richness, ripe tannins, and a great finish. Based on 84% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon from clay and limestone soils, it's going to need time, but it's certainly loaded with potential.

A deep and layered red with chocolate, berry, cherry, orange peel and some limestone aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied with lovely fruit and a tangy and vivid finish. Bright acidity comes out at the end.
