Note di degustazione
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Padrone is dense, powerful and super-concentrated to the core. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, chocolate, cocoa and new leather are all amped up in a rich, resonant Cabernet Sauvignon. Needless to say, it will be interesting to see where this goes.

Cask sample designed to prove that Signorello’s wines were unaffected by the 2017 fires. Also includes 8% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 1% Malbec. By numbers this was the most tannic vintage in Napa history apparently. Nowadays only 10–12 days on skins. Assembled in April. All new barriques. The first vintage of this top-of-the-line blend made in honour of Ray Signorello’s late father was 1997. All made pre fire and currently a long way from being bottled. Intense nose but on the palate quite fresh and tangy. Gentle texture and some sweetness but no excess alcohol. Great energy; really quite refined. Smells almost of Cab Franc it’s so fresh. Light, fresh tannins on the end. (JR)
A blended barrel sample, which was put together in March 2018, the 2017 Padrone is composed of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Malbec aged in 100% new oak. It is a vineyard block selection, barrel selection and varietal selection wine. Very deep purple-black in color, it gives beautiful cassis, wild blueberries, kirsch and lilacs notes with hints of cardamom, baking spices, crushed rocks and underbrush. The palate is medium-bodied, fine, fresh and elegant with a firm frame of ripe, grainy tannins and great freshness, finishing long and minerally.
